Tamil Nadu Braces For More Rainfall As Low-Pressure Area To Be Formed In Bay Of Bengal: IMD
As a new low-pressure zone is expected to form today in the Bay of Bengal, heavy rains are forecasted all-over Tamil Nadu from today to the next five days – India Meteorological Department
Chennai: Parts of Tamil Nadu received light showers on Thursday morning as IMD issued Orange Alert for the next five days due to the prevailing atmospheric circulation in the southwestern Bay of Bengal. IMD predicted that the atmospheric circulation may turn into a low-pressure zone in the next 12 hours. This low-pressure area is likely to move west-northwest towards the coast of Tamil Nadu in the next few days.
Since today morning, it has been raining in various parts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai. Due to the continuous rains in various parts of Chennai in the likes of Vadapalani, Koyambedu, Virugambakkam, Kodambakkam, T Nagar, Saidapet, Guindy, Arumbakkam, Aminthakarai and Parrys Corner, the public has been hugely affected. Roads in many areas have been flooded, causing inconvenience to commuters, motorists and students going to schools and colleges.
Besides Chennai, IMD also forecasted that Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Namakkal, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Tuticorin, Nellai, Kanyakumari, Tanjore, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai districts will receive showers for the next three hours.

Several Delta districts including Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Kanyakumari, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai and other coastal districts Pondicherry and Karaikal are expected to receive heavy rainfalls with thunder and lightning.
Most parts of other southern districts are expected to receive moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning. Most of the northern coastal districts are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall and interior districts to receive light rainfall.

As a new low-pressure zone is expected to form today in the Bay of Bengal, heavy rains are expected all-over Tamil Nadu from today to the next five days. In this situation, windstorms with the speed of 40 to 50km/hour are expected in the coastal areas of Kanyakumari, southwest of the Bay of Bengal and southern Tamil Nadu today (November 25), coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh on Friday (26 November), and Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh coasts on November 27 & 28. More so, IMD has warned fishermen not to venture out in the rough seas in these storm-prone areas for the next five days.
