Tamil Nadu Teachers' Protest: Edappadi Slams Govt For Arresting Agitators, Urges To Fulfil Poll Promises

In the manifesto, DMK had assured to provide equal wages for equal employment for teachers and permanent employment of part-time art, music and PT teachers in the School Education Department.

AIADMK General Secretary and former TN CM Edappadi K Palaniswami condemned the arrest of teachers that brought the teachers' protest at the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) campus in Nungambakkam to an end on Thursday.  Further, EPS urged Stalin to release all the arrested immediately and to fulfill the election promise to the teachers.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Edappadi K Palaniswami said, "Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin made a statement before and after coming to power that contradicts each other.. Stalin came to power by making false promises in his manifesto..311th and 181th points assured certain things for teachers. For the past nine months, teachers have been protesting in a peaceful democratic manner."

However, he said, "I strongly condemn the forceful arrest of families and children of the teachers without even fully considering their legitimate demand to fulfill the 311 and 181 promises made by you."

In the manifesto, DMK had assured to provide equal wages for equal employment for teachers and permanent employment of part-time art, music and PT teachers in the School Education Department.
