Tamil Nadu Rains: Schools, Colleges To Remain Shut Today In Tirupathur District

Taking note of the regional meteorological department's prediction about heavy rains in several districts of Tamil Nadu, Tirupathur District Collector has declared a holiday for schools and colleges on Tuesday.
The met department also forecasted heavy rain in Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Madurai, Karur, Erode, Namakkal, Salem districts in Tamil Nadu. On Sunday, Tirupathur and Krishnagiri districts received highest rainfall of 7 cms.

Heavy rain also expected to occur over Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Madurai, Karur, Erode, Namakkal, Salem districts of the state.

Earlier, In a tweet, India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said, "Heavy rainfall spell over Tamilnadu & Rayalaseema during next 5 days and over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Telangana during next 24 hours."
Chennai is likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall from Monday to Wednesday, according to the met centre. And on October 13 and 14, light showers are expected. However, no warning has been issued to fishermen.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday inspected rainwater drainage and dredging work which is undertaken in several parts of Chennai. The CM has inspected areas under North Chennai and ordered them to complete the works as soon as possible.
Due to heavy rains last year, several parts of Chennai were submerged under water. After which the government has focussed on revamping rainwater drains in the city.
