Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena inspected rain and flood-affected areas in the Antoniapuram area of Thoothukudi district on Saturday.
According to ANI, Srivaikundam step dam in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi district is overflowing following heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of Thamirabarani River on December 18 and 19.

On Saturday, Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena inspected rain and flood-affected areas in the Antoniapuram area of Thoothukudi district.
Earlier, the Chief Secretary said that the rescue operation in Thoothukudi district was over. Talking to the reporters on Friday, Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena said, "The rescue operation in the district of Thoothukudi is over, already in the case of Tirunelveli, it's over...We rescued 49,707 people over the past few days since the floods with the help of all agencies SDRF, state fire and rescue services, and state police."
"10 units of NDRF were there...With the help of all agencies, we concluded the rescue operations in total nearly more than 3,000 personnel participated in the rescue operation," he said.
However, waterlogging continued in Mukkani village of Thoothukudi district and several houses completely collapsed in the havoc wreaked by the incessant rains last week.
