Tamil Nadu Police Arrest BJP Functionary For Setting His Own Car On Fire

After carefully watching the footage, police realised that the person who set the car ablaze was Satish Kumar himself

New Delhi: A car belonging to Satish Kumar, a BJP district secretary for Tiruvallur West, mysteriously went up in flames on Thursday (April 14). The car was parked in front of his house in Madhuravoyil in Chennai. Satish then lodged a complaint following which police started to probe as they accessed the CCTV footage.

A man wearing the white shirt could be seen in the CCTV footage peeping into the car through the windows from all the sides and then he leaves the spot, as per footage.

Then another person dressed in dark clothes approached the car and was seen smearing something all over the car. He later set the car on fire and left the spot, according to the CCTV footage. People in the neighbourhood informed the car owner and his family who later reported this to police.

After carefully watching the footage, police realised that the person who set the car ablaze was Satish Kumar himself. When police asked Satish the reason behind this incident, the BJP functionary in an interrogation session confessed that he set ablaze to his own car, a News Minute report said. Satish reportedly revealed everything as he said that his wife was compelling him to buy her gold jewellery. She forced him to sell the car and buy her jewellery, according to the report.

Satish eventually thought setting car on fire and with the insurance amount he could gift his wife a gold ornament. However, the CCTV footage foiled his plan. The BJP cadre was reportedly taken into custody but the police released him later.
