Tamil Nadu: Man Detained For Torturing Step Daughter With Cigarette Butts

The issue came to light after the doctor who treated the girl immediately informed about the injury to Sastri Nagar police.

Chennai: A mother and her paramour were detained after the latter used cigarette butts to injure the former's two-year-old daughter in Chennai. The couple was identified as Banu (28) and Jagan. 

The two of them are yet to be arrested.

According to the Times of India, Banu got estranged from her husband and started living with Jagan along with her kid.

On September 29, Banu reportedly called her mother and said that her baby was suffering from health issues and told her to rush to her home. Banu along with her mother took the kid to the Institute of Child Health and Hospital in Egmore. 

The doctor who treated the girl immediately informed about the injury to Sastri Nagar police.

A senior police officer said, the girl had suffered injuries on her face and body due to the fire from cigar butts. 

They also picked the duo for investigation. 

In the investigation, it came to light that the paramour used to harm the kid whenever he was inebriated. He was angered by the kid since she was born to her first husband.

In 2016, a woman's paramour injured her children on their faces and arms using cigar butts. The girl was eight-year-old and the boy was four-year-old and they were residing on pavements in Bengaluru.

The man also reportedly forced the two kids to beg and if they did not return with enough money he allegedly beat them. He also burned them with cigarettes. 

The issue came to light after a woman in Vyalikaval saw the two kids begging with burn marks on their faces and informed the police.
