Tamil Nadu: History-Sheeter Who Stabbed Cop And Got Shot On Leg Arrested
The police said that when they neared Sachin he took out a machete and attacked a constable.
Chennai: A history-sheeter who allegedly stabbed a police constable with a machete was shot in the leg and arrested by the police in Kanchipuram on Wednesday.
According to a report in New Indian Express, the man identified as Sachin from Erumaiyur village near Somangalam in Kanchipuram works as a henchman. He has several cases pending against him. Hence, he was residing at a hideout near a private college in Erumaiyur.
On Wednesday, the police got a tipoff about his hideout and decided to go to his place to arrest him. A team led by Inspector Sivakumar went to his hideout at 3 am.

A police officer said that as soon as Sachin saw the police personnel he dropped a country-made bomb near them. However, the bomb did not blow up so once they neared Sachin he took out a machete and attacked a constable.
The inspector immediately shot Sachin's legs twice. They rushed and nabbed him.

Sachin was then taken to Rajiv Gandhi Government hospital for treatment. The constable identified as Baskar was admitted to Kancheepuram government hospital.
In March 2022, Tamil Nadu police killed 'Neeravi' Murugan, a history-sheeter with 60 cases, in an encounter in Tirunelveli. The police said that they shot him in self-defense since he tried to attack them with sickles in Kalakadu of Tirunelveli.
When Dindigul sub-inspector Isakki Raja surrounded Murugan, he reportedly took out his sickle out and attacked him. The cop for self-defense fired from his handgun but it hit Murugan. In the impact, he died on the spot.
Kalakadu police registered a case in connection with the incident. They also sent a detailed report to the magistrate.
