Tamil Nadu Guv RN Ravi, State BJP Chief Annamalai To Visit New Delhi Today
RN Ravi is expected to leave for Delhi by 10 am just as the state will be readopting Bill to ban online gambling games.
Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi and BJP state chief Annamalai are traveling to New Delhi on Thursday.
RN Ravi is expected to leave for Delhi by 10 am just as the state will be readopting Bill to ban online gambling games.
Earlier, RN Ravi returned TN Prohibition of Online Gambling and Regulation of Online Games Bill passed by Tamil Nadu Assembly on October 19, 2022. The Governor’s office reportedly said that the state government lacked legislative competence.
Following this, TN Law Minister Regupathy as per PTI said, the reasons put forth by Governor Ravi for sending back the Bill would be examined by Chief Minister M K Stalin. The Governor is duty-bound to give his assent when the Bill is adopted again in the Assembly.
The adoption of the Bill was necessitated after the Madras High Court struck down the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Gaming and Police Laws (Amendment) Act 2021 which banned wagers or placing bets in cyberspace on August 3, 2021.

Annamalai To Visit New Delhi
Meanwhile, TN BJP president K Annamalai is scheduled to leave Delhi from Chennai at 11 am.
During the visit, Annamalai is likely to meet PM Narendra Modi, BJP national president JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other BJP leaders.
Annamalai is expected to discuss about the rift in the alliance between the saffron party and AIADMK.
The rift between AIADMK and BJP deepened after BJP members started to quit the party and joined AIADMK. Five BJP workers including the party's IT wing chief CTR Nirmal Kumar initially quit BJP and joined the AIADMK between March 5 and March 7. Later, 13 others resigned BJP and joined AIADMK. They also accused Annamalai in their resignation letter.
On the same day, 100 AIADMK members joined the BJP.
However, the alleged 'poaching' in the two parties created a rift between the alliance partners in the state.
