He also announced in the state Assembly that the government is setting sights on providing employment to 22,000 people by setting up new industries in the Northern part of the state. Employment for the youngsters would be a strong pillar for the development and hence in the first phase, starting new industries in the backward regions of the state.

Speaking about the handling of the pandemic, Stalin said, “There should not be a third wave of the virus, but if it was to emerge, the government is prepared to tackle it.” Since the DMK government took charge, 65 lakh vaccines have been administered, he said.

On Thursday, Stalin took the opposition AIADMK government by storm as he taunted that the previous government couldn't handle the first wave and couldn't contain the spread of the virus in the second wave from February to April. He went on to demand the AIADMK to take responsibility for it.
