Tamil Nadu Assembly Session: Speaker Appavu Orders Eviction Of EPS, Supporting MLAs Amid Ruckus

Tamil Nadu Assembly Session: Earlier, EPS, Supporting MLAs Meet Speaker Appavu Regarding Seat Allocation To OPS.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker Appavu ordered the security personnel to evict the Opposition leader of Tamil Nadu Assembly Edappadi K Palaniswami and MLAs supporting him out of the Assembly for creating a ruckus during the sessions over the allocation of seat to AIADMK leader O Pannerselvam on Tuesday.

According to a report on ABP Nadu, a day after Assembly sessions commenced amid AIADMK’s single leadership row, the party’s interim-general secretary EPS met Assembly Speaker Appavu along with his supporting MLAs on Tuesday. The leaders during the meeting reportedly requested Appavu not to allot the deputy Opposition leader seat to O Panneerselvam.

The MLAs including KP Munusamy, Anbazhagan and Sellur Raju were present. EPS and the MLAs also urged the Speaker to accept their letter that bats to allot the deputy speaker seat to RB Udhayakumar instead of OPS.

However, OPS was allotted a seat next to EPS' chair despite the meeting on Tuesday. Following this, EPS and other MLAs voiced out and started shouting slogans against the decision.

As a result, Speaker Appavu ordered the security to EPS evict and other supporting MLAs from the Assembly, said the report.

On Monday, Tamil Nadu Assembly session started with EPS and 61 MLAs supporting his leadership boycotting the session. EPS boycotted after O Panneerselvam occupied the seat allotted for the deputy leader of the Opposition next to the Opposition leader. Panneerselvam also reportedly attended the business advisory committee (BAC) meeting, where the decision on the number of days to conduct the current session will be taken.

Meanwhile, the Assembly on Monday passed a condolence resolution to the deaths of Queen Elizabeth, former MLAs and politicians. The assembly was then adjourned.

The Assembly session will be held for 2 days till October 20. In the session, a resolution will be passed against Hindi imposition and reports related to former CM Jayalalithaa's demise and Thoothukudi police firing will be tabled.
