Tamil Nadu: Another 20-Year-Old NEET Aspirant From Coimbatore Kills Self Fearing Failure In Fourth-Attempt
The candidate did not get the desired score in the first three attempts and he also appeared disturbed after his fourth attempt of the test.
Chennai: A 21-year-old NEET aspirant died by suicide in Kinathukadavu of Coimbatore district due to the fear of failing the test in his fourth attempt, which he took up in September 2021.
According to a report on The Hindu, a 21-year-old Keerthivasan, was a son of a farmer from Kinathukadavu. Keerthivasan completed his schooling at a private school in Pollachi and he started appearing for NEET in 2018. The NEET aspirant appeared for the test in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. However, the candidate did not get the desired score in the first three attempts and he also appeared disturbed after his fourth attempt of the test.

In this backdrop on Friday night, when the parents came back home, Keerthivasan was found unconscious in his home. The parents immediately rushed him to a Government Hospital in Pollachi. The doctors administered first aid and told his parents to take him to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for treatment. However, upon arrival, the doctors declared the 21-year-old dead on arrival at CMCH.
Based on the incident the Kinathukadavu police took a complaint from the father of the deceased and registered a case under the section of unnatural death under the Code of Criminal Procedure. The doctors also performed the autopsy and handed over the body to the parents.
Earlier, the Tamil Nadu government passed an Anti-NEET Bill 2021 to abolish NEET in the state and to admit NEET aspirants to medical colleges based on the Class 12 marks.
The Chief Minister also wrote to 12 other counterparts seeking support for the anti-NEET law.
