Tamil Nadu: AIADMK Functionary Arrested For Stealing Gold In Palayamkottai
During interrogation, police found out that Divya Yadhav also pledged some gold ornaments with the help of AIADMK Tirunelveli district deputy secretary Pandiarajan at a pawn shop.
Chennai: A woman AIADMK functionary was arrested for allegedly stealing gold ornaments worth Rs 18.60 lakh from her relative's house in Palayamkottai taluk.
According to a report on The Hindu, the woman identified as Divya Yadhav (32), a AIADMK functionary from Sivan Kovil Street in Palayamkottai, went to her relative Nambi's house for a temple festival in Keezhanaththam. She then returned to her home.
However, the next day, Nambi who works with an IT firm in Chennai noticed that her 46.50 sovereigns of gold ornaments worth over Rs 18 lakh went missing. She immediately gave a complaint to Palayamkottai Taluk police station on June 9.

The police interrogated Nambi and zeroed down on Divya Yadhav. After investigation, they found that Divya Yadhav stole gold ornaments and exchanged the gold at a jewelry showroom to buy new ornaments for her in Vannarpet in Chennai.
Divya Yadhav also pledged the remaining with the help of AIADMK Tirunelveli district deputy secretary Pandiarajan, a loyalist of AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam. The police also picked up Pandiarajan who is an advocate for questioning.
In 2017, there was another theft in Palayamkottai that took the people by shock. Nearly 60kg of gold jewels worth several crores were stolen from a jewelry store in Palayamkottai. The preliminary investigations revealed that the burglars entered the three-story building by jumping from a terrace. They then cut open the grille using a gas cutter and fled the place with the jewels.
