Immediately Sathish escaped from the spot.

The incident at the railway station has sent a shock wave across the state.

A similar infamous Swathi murder case was reported in Nungambakkam railway station on June 24, 2016. Swathi, an employee of Infosys, was hacked to death with sickle by her stalker in broad daylight in front of passersby at Nungambakkam Railway Station.

After the murder, the body of Swathi remain unattended for over an hour after which police arrived at the spot and started the investigation.

The incident not only threw light on the delay in police attending the case but also the safety measures at railway station. In 2016, there was no CCTV cameras installed at the station. After Swathi's murder, CCTV cameras were installed in railway stations.

Yet, railway stations still remain an unplace for women especially at night.
Earlier, a journalist also flagged that a man masturbated in front of her in a women's compartment of a moving train in Chennai.
