However, the Income Tax Department did not reveal any information about the raid.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) detained the minister for electricity, prohibition, and excise in Tamil Nadu on June 14 in connection with a purported cash-for-jobs scam that occurred when he was the transport minister in the AIADMK administration of the late J Jayalalithaa.

During the questioning, Senthil Balaji complained of chest pain and was taken to Government Medical College, Omandurar Government Estate. He underwent an angioplasty at the hospital and was later advised to undergo surgery.

Based on the advice, Senthil Balaji was transferred to Cauvery Hospital in Chennai with the permission of the court.

Balaji underwent heart coronary artery bypass surgery at Kauvery Hospital. In the bulletin, the hospital said Balaji underwent a beating heart coronary artery bypass surgery and four bypass grafts were placed and coronary revascularisation was established.
