Rains To Intensify In Parts Of Tamil Nadu By November 11, Predicts IMD

Puducherry Education Minister A Namassivayam announced that the schools and colleges in the Union Territory to be shut till Thursday

Chennai: Director General of Meteorology, IMD, Dr S Balachandaran on Tuesday said that the rains to continue for two more days and the intensity would be at its peak on Thursday (November 11). Fishermen were advised not to venture out in the sea until Thursday.

According to an update on a news agency, the DGM - IMD said that a red alert has been issued for three districts for today, for tomorrow red alert issued for five districts and for Thursday, six districts including Chennai will have an intensified rainfall.

According to an earlier report by ABP, Tamil Nadu Revenue and Disaster Management Minister KKSSR Ramachandran said that five people have died due to issues related to rain. He further added that about 540 huts were broken and five houses have been completely damaged due to the torrential rains which made landfall on Saturday night.

Schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu to be shut for two days.

Schools, Colleges To Remain Shut In Puducherry 

Puducherry is also affected due to the severe downpour. On Tuesday, Puducherry Education Minister A Namassivayam announced that the schools and colleges in the Union Territory to be shut till Thursday (November 11) due to the red alert issued in the surrounding regions.
