Chennai: Tamil Nadu's capital city Chennai comes to standstill as rain wreaks havoc due to the impact of the northeast monsoon. Tamil Nadu received an average rainfall of 16.84 mm in the last 24 hours, said Revenue and Disaster Management Minister KKSSR Ramachandran on Tuesday.
According to an update given by a news agency, the minister said that five died due to rain-related issues. 538 huts were damaged in a flash flood situation in the state and four houses were fully destroyed. "More damage expected if rain intensifies," he said.
