Madras HC Directs Tamil Nadu Govt To Promote Tamil Language, Allocate More Funds
The case pertains to public interest litigation moved by Advocate B Stalin in 2017 in the Madurai bench of Madras High Court.
Chennai: The Madras High Court on Tuesday directed Tamil Nadu government to allocate funds and conduct various events to popularize Sangam-era Tamil literature and modern Tamil literature.
According to ANI, “Madurai bench of Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu government to allocate funds and conduct various events to popularize Sangam-era Tamil literature and modern Tamil literature. A public interest litigation was filed in this regard at the Madurai bench of Madras HC.”

The case came up for hearing before the bench of justices R Mahadevan and J Sathya Narayana Prasad based on a public interest litigation moved by Advocate B Stalin in 2017 in the Madurai bench of Madras High Court.
“In the PIL, it was demanded that all Tamil books, Tamil research books and other language books related to the development of Tamil should be placed in the library of the World Tamil Association and basic facilities should be established in the library.” ANI said.

In the petition, the petitioner said, the government and Tamil Sangam are not taking steps to promote the beauty of Tamil. However, the judges after taking the documents submitted by the government came to the conclusion that the government is taking steps to develop Tamil language. They also observed that the world Tamil Sangam is also working towards fulfilling its objective.
As a result, the bench disposed of the petition.
