‘Laughable, Baseless & Unfounded’: TN Ruling Party On BJP's 'DMK Files'
The DMK leaders also said that a legal action would be initiated against Annamalai for his claims.
On the day Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai released 'DMK files' alleging corruption charges against the ruling party in Tamil Nadu, DMK leaders dismissed the allegation and called them “laughable”. The DMK leaders also said that a legal action would be initiated against Annamalai for his claims.
During a press conference called by BJP on Friday, Annamalai said that DMK received "kickbacks of Rs 200 crore" from a MNC through two shell firms and the sum was used by "TN Chief Minister M K Stalin as 2011 election fund for DMK". Annamalai also said that he would lodge a complaint with the CBI seeking a probe into the matter.
On Friday, Annamalai also released a 15-minute video clip "DMK Files (Part-1) and said three other parts would be released. He said, the videos will include details of all political parties.
The video featured DMK ministers, leaders and others related to ruling party leaders.
However, the DMK members dismissed the allegations and called them "laughable, baseless and unfounded".
DMK leader Duraimurugan dismissed the allegations as a mere political stunt. DMK Organising Secretary R S Bharathi told reporters that Annamalai would now have to spend more time in courts than touring for the BJP.
Bharathi said his party was not afraid of the CBI and it had faced and disproved allegations in its long history.
"No single allegation against DMK could be proved even by AIADMK leaders M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa. The DMK is an open book," Bharathi said.
Bharathi said those featured in the video clip would take legal action against Annamalai individually, apart from the DMK itself moving court. He set a 15-day deadline for Annamalai to produce documentary evidence related to claims.
