Kerala: Union Forest Minister Assures Support To Families Of Victims Of Tiger & Elephant Attacks In Wayanad

This year, Ajeesh and Paul were trampled to death by two separate wild elephants. In December 2023,  Prajeesh fell victim to a tiger attack.

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav visited the families of three men who lost their lives in animal attacks in Kerala on Wednesday. The Minister arrived at Wayanad in the evening and met with the families of victims Prajeesh, Paul, and Ajeesh. He also offered assurances of all possible assistance to help them rebuild their lives.

This year, Ajeesh and Paul were trampled to death by two separate wild elephants. In December 2023,  Prajeesh fell victim to a tiger attack.

After the visit, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav tweeted "Met the families of Prajeesh, Paul and Ajeesh, who lost their lives in the man-animal conflict in Wayanad recently. Their loss is irreparable. Assured them the government, led by PM Modi stands with the families in their hour of grief. We will ensure full support to get their lives back on track."

"I pray the departed souls rest in eternal peace. Also asked members of Kerala BJP to extend all possible help to the people in the region to ensure a harmonious man-animal coexistence," he said.

On Thursday, a state ministerial delegation, acting upon the directives of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, conducted discussions on remedial proposals during a visit to Wayanad. The meeting, attended by local people's representatives and officials, resulted in decisions being made to address the situation.

Before this, Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi and Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, visited the families of those who tragically lost their lives in animal attacks.
