Independence Day 2022: Actors Rajinikanth, Mohanlal Join Citizens To Hoist National Flag

Rajinikanth said, “Beyond caste, religion and politics, let us pass on our Indian National Flag to the next generation to be proudly displayed outside our homes, offices and workplaces."

Chennai: Kollywood Superstar Rajinikanth and Mollywood Superstar Mohanlal joined with the citizens of India to hoist the national flag as part of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ on the occasion of 75th Independence Day.

In a tweet, Rajinikanth said, “This is the 75 years of independence for India.. our motherland. As a mark of respect, as an expression of our unity, for all the lakhs of people who suffered untold struggles and miseries.. pain and humiliation.. for all those many thousands of people who sacrificed their lives selflessly for this freedom.. for all those freedom fighters, martyrs and leaders.. let us honor and salute them with gratitude.”

“Beyond caste, religion and politics.. let us pass on our Indian National Flag to our next generation of kids and youngsters to be proudly displayed outside our homes, offices and workplaces. Let us celebrate the great Indian 75th Independence Day with pride... Let our national flag fly everywhere as we salute them,” he said.

Rajinikanth also released a video to encourage people to be part of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’.

On Saturday, after the flag hoisting, Mohanlal said that he is proud to take part in 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav'. He said that he joined citizens to hoist national flag, honouring PM's call of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’.

May this mahotsav bring courage and inspire us to move forward with a lot of patriotism, he said as per ANI.

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP Ilayaraaja also changed his social media to an Indian flag on Saturday.

Earlier, PM Modi urged citizens to use 'tiranga' as DP on their social media accounts between August 2 and August 15.
