Andhra Pradesh & Telangana Among Four States Facing Monsoon Fury, NDRF Deployed To Tackle Floods
Floods In India: In view of the current situation, 10 teams in Andhra Pradesh and 13 NDRF teams in Telangana are pushed into service for rescue and relief work.
Chennai: Over four states in India including Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are facing heavy rains, flood-like situations and landslides due to the onset of intense monsoon. Heavy rains battered Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat and Maharashtra and led to floods in some parts of the states.
Nearly 176 self-contained NDRF teams are deployed across the country to tackle any emergency.
In view of the current situation, 10 teams in Andhra Pradesh and 13 NDRF teams in Telangana are pushed into service for rescue and relief work after consultation with the state administration. Of the 13 teams in Telangana, 4 teams were airlifted from Bhatinda (Punjab).
Besides, 17 teams in Maharashtra and 25 teams in Gujarat are also deployed for the rescue operation. Out of the total, 5 teams have been airlifted from Odisha base to Surat airport for undertaking rescue operations in Gujarat.

In view of a recent flood, NDRF has rescued about 700 victims and evacuated more than 2,500 people stranded in far-off areas to safer places. The rescuers had also been putting their best efforts to provide immediate assistance to the needy in flood rescue operations.
The NDRF is also constantly tracking the Metrological Department (IMD’s) weather forecast and Centre Water Commission (CWC’s) report and acting accordingly. The NDRF commanders in the field are in touch with respective state authorities to render all possible assistance.

DG NDRF, Atul Karwal is personally monitoring operations. A 24X7, NDRF control room in Delhi is also functioning round the clock to keep a watch over the situation.
