PM Modi is set to inaugurate the new Parliament building on May 28.
Aam Aadmi Party, Trinamool Congress, CPI and TMC have also decided to skip the inauguration in the national capital on Sunday.
TMC MP Derek O'Brien said that Parliament is not just a new building; it is an establishment with old traditions, values, precedents and rules - it is the foundation of Indian democracy. PM Modi doesn’t get that.
For PM, Derek O'Brein said, "Sunday's inauguration of the new building is all about I, ME, MYSELF. So count us out."
Earlier, AAP said, "Aam Aadmi Party will boycott the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building on 28th May. AAP has taken this decision in view of the questions being raised regarding the matter of not inviting the President to the inauguration ceremony."
Congress also started to sharply criticise the Centre and BJP for failing to invite President. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, "It looks like the Modi Govt has ensured the election of President of India from the Dalit and the Tribal communities only for electoral reasons."
"While Former President, Shri Kovind was not invited for the New Parliament foundation laying ceremony, The President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu is not being invited for the inauguration of the new Parliament Building," he said.
