DMK Cadre Hurl Footwear On AIADMK MLA Pollachi Jayaraman During Scuffle, Incident Creates Tension In TN District

Chennai: Tense situation prevailed in Kothawadi village after DMK members hurled footwear at AIADMK MLA Pollachi V Jayaraman during a scuffle that broke out between the members of the two Dravidian majors on Tuesday. While the MLA was inspecting a pond and arrived to perform pooja, a brawl ensued between AIADMK workers and DMK workers.
According to a report on PTI, the DMK workers immediately got into an argument with AIADMK members who accompanied the leader on who should take the credit for the pond, which is overflowing after several years.
The argument then led to a fistfight among workers and while Pollachi Jayaraman was leaving the venue during the fight, one of the DMK partymen allegedly hurled footwear on the MLA.
Immediately the police who were present on the spot to provide escort immediately took Jayaraman to his car. They also dispersed the party workers of AIADMK and DMK.

Earlier, the DMK cadre hurled stones and footwear on Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's convoy during her visit to Ramanathapuram in 2018. The DMK volunteers gathered on the convoy's route to show black flags as a form of protest against the formation of the Cauvery Management Board.
The incident took place after BJP leaders reportedly teased DMK cadre for showing black flag to the Minister.

Nirmala Sitharaman, who was the then Defence Minister, visited the district to review the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan implementation in Kallikudi and Kayalur of Paramakudi.
