Chennai Customs Seize 2,000 Grams Of Cocaine Worth Rs 21 Cr From Ghanaian Passenger

In a significant narcotics seizure, the Customs Department intercepted over 2,000 grams of cocaine worth Rs 21 crore from an air passenger who arrived from Ghana. The operation took place at Chennai International Airport on June 26.
The woman, hailing from the West African country, was apprehended by intelligence officers upon her arrival. During the interrogation, she was found to be in possession of 2,095 grams of cocaine in powder form. The drugs were ingeniously concealed within her bags and footwear.
On 26.06.2024, Chennai AIU officers and K9-Squad intercepted a female pax of Ghana Nationality arrived from Qatar. Principal Commissioner of Customs, R. Srinivasa Naik, confirmed the seizure in an official release. The contraband was recovered under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Following her arrest, the woman has been detained and is currently lodged in Central Prison, Puzhal.
