Actor Vijay Moves Civil Suit Against Parents, Seeks Stay From Using His Name For Holding Meetings

The actor has moved the civil suit to restrain 11 persons including parents and functionaries of Vijay's fan club from using his name for meetings.

Chennai: Actor Vijay moved a civil suit against his parents and other persons from using his name for performing any activities or meetings. The civil suit follows the decision of Vijay's parents to permit Vijay Makkal Mandram, a registered society of actor Vijay’s fans, to contest as independent candidates in the local body polls to nine districts in October 2021.

According to a report in The Hindu, the actor has moved the civil suit to restrain 11 persons including parents and functionaries of Vijay's fan club from using his name for meetings. He also urged the Court to declare the deed of association as null and sought a stay against the 11 persons. The Court is likely to hear the civil suit on September 27.

The actor’s parents have always shown political aspirations and the interest to enter politics with the name of Vijay despite the actor’s disapproval.

Even in January 2021, actor Vijay distanced himself from the activities of Vijay Makkal Mandram, a society registered by his father SA Chandrasekar. In a report in Times of India from January, Vijay's advocate said that his client cannot be responsible for the consequences of Vijay Makkal Iyakkam or the activities of Chandrasekar. He also said that Chadrasekhar registered the political party in the name "All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Mandram'' without the permission of Vijay and also registered a society "Vijay Makkal Iyakkam" on June 8, 2020.

In November 5, 2020 the actor issued a notice informing his fans to not be involved in political party or society or movements held by his father.
