New Delhi: Police have arrested Anand Giri, an accused in the death of All India Akhara Parishad President Mahant Narendra Giri. On the complaint of another disciple of Mahant Narendra Giri, a case was registered against him. However, Anand Giri has denied all the allegations against him even before his arrest. The UP police have currently arrested Anand Giri and are investigating all other aspects. 

Who is Anand Giri?

Anand Giri is a resident of Sareri village in Asind area in Bhilwara, Rajasthan. His real name is Ashoka and his father's name is Rameshwar Lal Chotia. He is the youngest of his four brothers. In 1997, he left his home at the age of 12 and moved to Haridwar where he met Narendra Giri.

On meeting Anand, Narendra Giri asked Anand what he wanted to which he responded saying that he wants to study. Narendra Giri ensured Anand was taught well and given good education.

Anand Giri's discourse was telecasted on the TV channel Sanskar. After watching the program, his family recognised him. He visited his village in 2012 with Mahant Narendra Giri. Narendra Giri gave him Diksha in front of the family and he became Anand Giri from Ashoka.

Anand Giri is under suspicion because his dispute with Narendra Giri was long-standing. The reason for this is the 300-year-old will of the Baghambari throne, which was handled by Narendra Giri. A few years ago, Anand Giri accused Narendra Giri of selling 8 bighas of the throne's land for Rs 40 crore. After that the controversy had deepened. 

Anand had also accused Narendra of murdering the secretary of the Akhara. Family members said Anand Giri had left the village and gone to Haridwar when he was studying in class VII. He belongs to a Brahmin family. His father does farming in the village. Anand Giri is the youngest in the family. He has three brothers. A brother sells vegetables on a cart. Two brothers own a scrap business in Surat. Sareri village regards Anand Giri as a good saint. He is said to be calm and decent in nature.
