UP Man Held For Sharing Morphed Pictures Of PM Modi, Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath On Facebook

The accused Kasim was arrested for morphing images of PM Modi, Amit Shah and UP CM Adityanath and sharing them on social media.

The police have arrested a man from the Kosi Kalan city in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district for allegedly sharing objectionable morphed pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on social media platform Facebook. The man was sent to jail on Thursday, according to the news agency PTI. The Superintendent of Police (Rural) Trigun Bisen said that they acted on tip, and nabbed Kasim, a local resident who tried to “disturb the peace in the area” by sharing the objectionable pictures on Facebook.

After acting on a the information recieved by the police, the accused was arrested from the Ghantaghar area on Wednesday night then sent to jail on Thursday, Bisen further added. 

Last month a Noida man was arrested for allegedly duping people by morphing images of himself with ministers, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He allegedly defrauded people by assuring them tenders and government jobs citing connections with top officers and ministers. The accused was identified as Mohammad Kashif (36), who lived in a high-rise society in Sector 107. He was arrested by the Special Task Force of the UP Police. 

“He had posted his morphed pictures on social media which purportedly showed him interacting with some ministers in the central government as well as the state government. He also had edited his picture which showed him with PM Modi,” the police officer said, according to PTI.

“He had used these morphed images to flex connection with top government officers and ministers and duped people by assuring them tenders or job in government departments,” the officer added.

Kashif was held from Greater Noida by an STF team. The police have impounded a Mercedes car used by him and seized three Apple iPhones, according to the official. An FIR was lodged under Sections 420 (cheating), 467, 468, 471 (all related to forgery) of the Indian Penal Code as well under provisions of the Information Technology Act.
