Uttar Pradesh: Bypoll For Vacant Rajya Sabha Seat To Be Held On September 15
Scrutiny of nominations will be held on September 6 and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is September 8, according to the schedule released by the EC.
New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday decided to hold a by-election to a Rajya Sabha seat from Uttar Pradesh on September 15 to fill up the vacancy following the demise of a sitting member, Hardwar Dubey.
The last date for filing nominations is September 5, the EC said in a statement. Notification for the bypoll will be issued on August 29.

Hardwar Dubey, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), passed away on June 26. His term as a Rajya Sabha member was to otherwise end in November 2026.
The polling for the by-election will be held on September 15 from 9 am to 4 pm. The counting will take place an hour after polling ends at 4 pm on September 15.
Dhupguri assembly seat in West Bengal was vacated following the death of sitting assembly member Bishnu Pada Ray, while the Ghosi seat in Uttar Pradesh fell vacant after SP's Dara Singh Chauhan resigned to join the BJP.
