‘Ram Mandir Event Attended By Amitabh, Aishwarya, PM Modi But…’: Rahul Gandhi Fires Salvo At Govt

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the government of prioritizing the interests of big industrialists over the welfare of farmers and marginalized communities.

New Delhi: During the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Prayagraj, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a direct attack on the BJP government over the Ram Temple inauguration ceremony, saying, "Did you see the 'Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha'? Did you see any OBC or ST/SC faces? It was attended by Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Bachchan, and PM Narendra Modi, but we didn't see the people who truly run the country. These people want to ensure that you guys can never control the country."

Addressing a gathering, Gandhi said that the  OBC (Other Backward Classes), Dalits, and tribals collectively constitute 73 percent of the population, yet they remain significantly underrepresented in key sectors of society, including business, governance, and media. He also mentioned that the top 200 companies in India are owned by individuals from these communities, reported PTI.

Rahul asserted the fact that the Caste census is the X-ray of the country. This will reveal everything, he said, as per PTI. "Caste census is your (youth's) weapon and you have to find out what is your population", he told the gathering as he came of the Swaraj Bhawan, at Lakshmi Talkies intersection near Allahabad University.  He also added, "You have to find out what is your share in the country's wealth. How much wealth do the 73 per cent castes have in this country?"

During the event, Gandhi interacted with a student, and asked him, Which class do you belong to? The student replied that he was from the OBC category. On this, Gandhi said, The OBC class in the country is 50 per cent, Dalits are 15 per cent and tribals are eight percent, as per PTI.

Rahul Gandhi also addressed concerns raised by students regarding exam paper leaks, denouncing it as a tactic to hinder their progress. Turning his attention to economic policies, Gandhi accused the government of prioritizing the interests of big industrialists over the welfare of farmers and marginalized communities.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, UP Congress President Ajay Rai, and former MLA Anugrah Narayan Singh were present during the yatra.
