UP International Trade Show In September, One District, One Product Initiative To Be Prioritised

Uttar Pradesh gears up for its upcoming International Trade Show in September. A roadshow was conducted in Delhi today to kickstart preparations for the five-day trade fair.

Uttar Pradesh is preparing to host its International Trade Show in September. On Friday, a road show programme was held in Delhi in preparation for the five-day trade fair, which will be held from September 21 to 25 this year, according to an official statement. The programme was co-organized by the Department of MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), Exports, the Government of Uttar Pradesh, and India Exposition Mart Limited (IEML) to inform and update stakeholders on trade show preparations. Officials from the MSME department, the Department of Exports, and IEML are among the stakeholders.

Through this international trade show, which will be held at the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida, the attractive products of Uttar Pradesh will be brought together under one roof for extensive and significant trade, the statement said.

Along with one district and one product, these female entrepreneurs who have recently established themselves through their startups will be given special consideration, it added.

As per the statement, giving women entrepreneurs preferential treatment is a commendable step towards promoting gender equality and empowering women in business.

Amit Mohan Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of MSME, Government of Uttar Pradesh, stated, "The primary purpose of this international trade show is to promote trade and business in the state of Uttar Pradesh by providing a platform where various sectors related to the state's products and services can converge."

He also emphasised the show's contribution to improving Uttar Pradesh's products' global market access. "Taking part in an international trade show allows businesses to showcase their products and services to a global audience, attracting potential buyers, distributors, and partners from all over the world. This exposure can lead to increased export opportunities, which can lead to economic growth and diversification," he said.

Prasad further said that Uttar Pradesh is a critical state for the country's industrial development. He emphasised that the industrial environment in Uttar Pradesh has changed significantly over time, attracting investors eager to make investments in the state.

The trade show, according to the statement, aims to highlight various well-known products from various regions of Uttar Pradesh. Some of them are Varanasi's 'Gulabi minakari' (enamelwork), Banda's silk, Banaras and Banda's Shajar stone cufflinks, Kannauj's perfumes, Lucknow's chikankari embroidery, Moradabad's brass work, and Azamgarh's black pottery. These items represent Uttar Pradesh's rich cultural heritage and skilled craftsmanship.

The trade show is expected to establish a distinct identity within the trade community, enhancing Uttar Pradesh's reputation as a hub for diverse industries and products. It will benefit exporters, entrepreneurs, and artisans by providing a platform for them to showcase their offerings, make connections, and explore new business opportunities.
