UP Govt Issues New Guidelines For Female Workers — No Forced Night Shift, Free Home Drop, If Working
The government has also said that the companies have to provide free cab facilities for women working from office, among other facilities.
New Delhi: In a bid to ensure safety of women, the Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday issued several rules for women employees, working in both government and private sector. According to reports, the Yogi Adityanath-led state government has said that women staffers cannot be forced to work between 7pm and 6am and in special circumstances, the office will have to seek her written consent.
According to reports, every office, in both government and private sector, has to follow this rule and violation might lead to action by the government. The rule further stated that if a woman refuses to work after 7pm, she cannot be fired, violation of which could lead to heavy amount of fine or jail for the company.
The government has also said that the companies have to provide free cab facilities for women working from office, among other facilities.
“After written consent, women can work between 7pm and 6am, be it from work from home or work from office. If the employee is working in office, then a free cab facility must be provided to the female employee,” a report by Times Now quoted Suresh Chandra, Additional Chief Secretary of the Labour and Employment Department of the UP Government, as saying.
Among the other rules, the government has said that the companies have to provide food and drinking water for women working in night shifts from office, bathrooms and changing rooms must be available for women, a woman can be only asked to work from office if there are four other women in that shift, and every organisation must have a committee to ensure harassment against women does not take place.
