Dreaded Gangster Anil Dujana Killed In Encounter With Uttar Pradesh STF In Meerut

Gangster Anil Dujana: Anil Dujana alias Anil Nagar had over 50 cases registered against him.

Dreaded gangster Anil Dujana has been killed in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh STF in Meerut. Anil Dujana alias Anil Nagar, who has 50 cases registered against him, was a resident of village Dujana in Gautam Buddha Nagar district.

Dujana was lodged in Delhi's Tihar Jail for a long time, but was released last week on bail. After being released from jail, he started threatening one of the key witnesses in a murder case filed against him (Jaichand Pradhan murder case).

Two cases were filed against Dujana and Noida Police's Special Cell and STF team were engaged to arrest the gangster. In the last few days, seven teams raided more than 20 places.

On Thursday morning, the STF moved in to arrest him after getting a tip-off that Dujana was seen in a village in Meerut. During the operation, Dujana and his gang opened fire at the police, leading to a gunfight. He was eventually killed in the encounter.

"Dreaded gangster of western UP, Anil Dujana was killed in an encounter with the Meerut unit of UP STF. He had several cases against him. He was a contract killer and had 18 murder cases against him," ANI quoted Amitabh Yash, Additional DGP, STF, Uttar Pradesh, as saying.

Dujana village of Badalpur was once known as Sundar Nagar due to Sundar daku. Sundar was feared in Delhi-NCR in the seventies and eighties. He even threatened to kill the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Anil Dujana belongs to this Dujana village. As per police records, the first case of murder against Dujana was recorded in 2002 at Kavi Nagar police station in Ghaziabad.

The development comes days after ganster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf, accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, were shot dead on April 15 by three men posing as journalists while they were being escorted by police personnel to a hospital for a checkup.

Atiq's son, Asad, who was also named in the Umesh Pal murder case, was gunned down in a police encounter on April 13.

Atiq Ahmed was a former member of Parliament from Phulpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He had more than 90 criminal cases against him, including murder, kidnapping and extortion.

Last month, Uttar Pradesh Police said that it had gunned down 183 alleged criminals in encounters in the six years of the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led government, including Ahmad's son Asad and his aide.
