'Work On Mosque Should Begin At Earliest': Ex-Ayodhya Case Litigant Demands Change Of Trustees

Former Ayodhya land dispute litigant, Iqbal Ansari has demanded changing the trustees of Indo Islamic Cultural Centre which is looking after construction of the Babri mosque.

Former litigant in Ayodhya land dispute case, Iqbal Ansari has asked to replace the existing trustees for the construction of Babri Mosque in Ayodhya, disappointed at the pace of its construction. Ansari alleged that no work has begun till today adding that the trustees have considered it as their own property.

"The question is about Ayodhya and 5 acres of land for Babri Masjid. The Government has allotted the land for the mosque but trustees considered it their property and no work has begun till today," Ansari told news agency ANI.

"People raise questions about why the work is getting delayed...People of Ayodhya say that had the trustees been honest, work would have begun," he added.

"So, we demand that trustees should be monitored and the work on the mosque begin at the earliest. If the trustees are negligent, they should be replaced," Ansari said.

The Supreme Court in its 2019 judgment of the case allotted 2.77 acres of the disputed land to for the construction of the Ram Mandir, an alternate 5 acres of land was given to Muslims in Dhannipur for the construction of Babri Masjid.

Following the court order, 'Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra' was formed to look after the construction of the temple while the 'Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation' was constituted to look after the mosque's construction.
