2 Dead After Building Collapses In UP’s Barabanki, Rescue Ops On

A building collapsed in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki in the early hours of Monday in which two people died and some were feared trapped. 12 people were rescued from the spot.

Two people died while some were feared trapped after a building collapsed in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki, said the officials on Monday. The incident took place at around 3 am and 12 people have been rescued out of which two have died, Dinesh Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police, Barabanki told the media. Teams of the State Disaster Response Force the National Disaster Response Force is present at the spot and conducting the rescue operations. 

Rescue operations are currently underway to pull out the trapped people. Rescued people who were injured have been hospitalised, Singh added. 

"Around 3 am in the morning, we received information about a building collapse in Barabanki...We have rescued 12 people...we have got information that 3-4 people are likely still trapped under the debris. SDRF team is also at the spot, NDRF will arrive soon...among the 12 people who were rescued and hospitalised, 2 have died," Singh said, as quoted by news agency ANI. 

"As it has been informed by the administration, 12 people have been rescued and 2 are trapped under the debris. Victims and their families told the probable locations of the people trapped and accordingly, NDRF and SDRF are conducting the operation," said NDRF Deputy Commandant Anil Kumar Pal.

On Sunday, a residential building collapsed in Maharashtra's Thane district  killing an infant and a woman while five others were injured. 

Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said that the single-storey building collapsed at 12.35 am on Sunday. The building has six flats and is located on Durga Road in Dhobi Talao area of Bhiwandi town, he added, as per a PTI report.

A team of the Thane Disaster Response Force (TDRF) and fire personnel from the Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation were pressed to the spot. 

A search operation was launched and seven persons were pulled out from the debris. An eight-month-old girl and a woman died in the incident while five others were injured, as per the officials, the PTI report stated.
