'Will Double-Engine Govt...?': Akhilesh Yadav Attacks BJP Govt In UP Assembly

Speaking in the UP Assembly, Akhilesh Yadav attacked the BJP over the issue of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav cornered the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government over the issue of Goods and Services Tax (GST) on Wednesday and asked a volley of questions, Speaking in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, the SP Chief said, "Did the government buy the wheat or did the private companies buy it? I want to say that the GST on farming equipment is 12% to 18%. Will this double-engine government reduce the GST to help the farmers?"

On Tuesday, the four-day session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature was convened by the state cabinet. A massive number of security personnel were deployed outside the UP State Assembly ahead of the commencement of the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha.

'Govt Does Not Want To Face Opposition': Akhilesh Yadav Targets UP CM Yogi Adityanath On First Day

On the first day of the winter session of the UP Assembly, Akhilesh Yadav lashed out at the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in the state over issues of farmers, reservation, and an alleged poor condition of education in the state. Speaking to reporters ahead of the session, the former Chief Minister said, "The government does not want to face opposition. We are demanding a discussion on various issues. But they neither want to hear anything nor want to give any answer," as quoted by ANI.

Continuing his attack on the government, the SP chief alleged a lack of medical facilities in the hospitals. "The medical infrastructure is completely in shambles." He further alleged that parents are not sending their children to get enrolled in primary schools. "6900 teachers are looking for recruitment."

He further alleged that new investment proposals "were not being seen anywhere" and that "the pothole-free roads continue to be a dream," as quoted by ANI. "Farmers in rural areas are not getting the benefits of their procurement; wheat rates are not increasing; paddy is not being purchased by the government," he said.
