Telangana School Principal Arrested For Sexual Assault Of Minor Student

The principal of a private school in Ibrahimpatnam was arrested on Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting a nine-year-old student on school premises. The accused, identified as Dinavath Rao (40), has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the SC/ST Act, reported Telangana Today.
The case came to light after the minor, a fourth-grade student, confided in her mother about the repeated assaults. Distraught by the revelations, the family immediately approached the Ibrahimpatnam police and filed a formal complaint on February 5, as per a report on PTI. Acting swiftly, authorities registered a case and launched an investigation, leading to the principal's arrest the following day.
According to police, Rao allegedly targeted the young girl on multiple occasions within the school compound, as per the reports. Following his arrest, he was produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, raising serious concerns about child safety in educational institutions.
This case follows a similar incident in Tiruchi district, Tamil Nadu, where a private CBSE school trustee was accused of sexually harassing a minor student, reported The Hindu. The earlier incident, which occurred near Manapparai, triggered widespread protests on February 6, 2025. Enraged locals vandalised a nearby school under the same management and staged a road blockade on the Tiruchi-Dindigul national highway, demanding justice for the victim.
In a similar incident, three teachers employed at a government-run middle school in Krishnagiri district were arrested following allegations of sexually abuse of a 13-year-old female student. The accused have been charged under multiple provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Upon the incident being reported, the District Education Officer promptly ordered the suspension of the implicated teachers.
