Teams Of Kharga Sappers Rescue 200 People From Gopal Colony Of Flood-Affected Patiala

Rs 50,000 per district for the purchase of medicines as per the demand in flood-prone districts of Ropar, Patiala, Ludhiana, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Moga, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Kapurthala, Taran-taran and Sangrur

Heavy rain has continued to lash several parts of Punjab and Chandigarh damaging properties and making it difficult for authorities to carry out rescue operations. Teams of Kharga Sappers in coordination with Patiala local administration, however, evacuated more than 200 people from Gopal Colony.

"Teams of Kharga Sappers in coordination with Patiala local administration carried out relentless flood relief operations to evacuate more than 200 stranded people from Gopal Colony," said Indian army officials, as reported by ANI.

All efforts are being made to protect the lives and property as well livestock in flood-affected areas said Information and Public Relations Department, Punjab.

According to an army spokesperson, medicines worth Rs 50,000 per district have been purchased and distributed at tehsil headquarters to Senior Veterinary officers.

Government has also released Rs 50,000 per distric for the purchase of medicines as per the demand in flood-prone districts of Ropar, Patiala, Ludhiana, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Moga, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Kapurthala, Taran-taran and Sangrur, reported ANI.

"Health department has also released a grant of Rs 12.5 lakhs in district hospitals to cater their emergency needs so that they can smoothly carry out flood relief operations and stock the medicines if required. Apart from this, Rapid Response Teams have been constituted in all the districts and Nodal officers have been appointed to personally supervise the ongoing flood relief operations. Control Rooms are also established along with the operational phone number at the district headquarters," said the spokesperson.

Permanent medical camps have also been established in areas severely impacted by flood.  Civil Surgeon and Rapid Response Teams are working in close coordination to carry out activities at high-risk villages and the population affected by floods.
