Tamil Nadu Cabinet Reshuffle On The Horizon? CM Stalin Drops Hints Before US Trip

Stalin's statement comes just a few days after he downplayed reports on the reported cabinet reshuffle in Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin departed for the United States for a 17-day trip on Tuesday. The trip aimed at attracting investments to the state marks his fourth international trip since taking office in 2021. His itinerary includes visits to San Francisco and Chicago, where he is scheduled to meet with representatives from multinational corporations, including companies already invested in Tamil Nadu.

Ahead of his flight, Stalin hinted at a possible cabinet reshuffle upon his return from his trip. The hint came just a few days after Stalin downplayed reports on the reported cabinet reshuffle. While addressing reporters after inaugurating 24x7 control centre of the state disaster relief department in Chennai, Stalin was asked about the possible cabinet reshuffle in the state. However, Stalin said that such an information did not reach him.

Cabinet Reshuffle In Tamil Nadu?

Before boarding his flight, Stalin addressed the media at the airport, discussing his government’s efforts to bring in fresh investments. When questioned about potential changes in the state's council of ministers after his return on September 14, Stalin cryptically remarked, as per PTI, "Change is the only constant. Wait and see." This statement has fueled speculation about the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle, with reports suggesting that three ministers, including a senior member, could be dropped.

There is also widespread anticipation that Stalin's son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, who currently serves as a minister, might be promoted to the role of Deputy Chief Minister. The party's ranks have been vocal about their desire to see Udhayanidhi elevated to a higher position within the cabinet.

Earlier expectations pointed to a reshuffle before Stalin’s US trip, but with his departure, the focus now shifts to potential changes upon his return. The trip, spanning 17 days, is part of the state's ongoing efforts to boost economic ties and secure new investments.
