'CM Mann Deputed 40 Security Escorts For His Wife': Moosewala's Father Questions Punjab Govt's Claim On Law & Order
Balkaur Singh, Sidhu Moosewala's father, questioned the Punjab government's claim on the law and order situation in state asking why CM Bhagwant Mann had to depute 40 security escorts for his wife.
New Delhi: Balkaur Singh, the father of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, slammed the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government on Sunday over the claims of law and order in the state. Singh questioned why Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann needed to assign 40 security escorts for his wife if the situation was so good.
"If the law and order situation in Punjab was so good, why did CM Bhagwant Mann depute 40 security escorts for his wife?" he remarked, as quoted by news agency ANI. He further said that the Mann administration was "safeguarding" the state's gangsters.
"I will visit the Thar area where Sidhu was murdered, with his photo so that the government feels ashamed of the prevailing state of affairs," ANI quoted him as saying.
The 28-year-old Punjabi singer was shot dead in Mansa on May 29, 2022. He was shot at point-blank range and declared dead on arrival at the Mansa civil hospital. Locals found Moosewala in the driver's seat after the assailants fired over 30 bullets at him. The incident took place two days after 424 people, including Moosewala, had their security coverage curtailed by the Punjab Police.
According to the investigation, Lawrence Bishnoi was the main accused behind this murder plot which was executed in broad daylight. He was arrested on November 23 by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with an alleged plot to recruit young people to carry out terrorist attacks in Delhi and other regions of the nation.
Bishnoi's close aide Goldy Brar, who is rumoured to be based in Canada, is also under investigation in this case. Through Interpol, the police issued a Red Corner Notice for Brar.
In the Punjab Assembly election, Vijay Singla of the AAP defeated Moosewala, who contested in the polls from Mansa on a Congress ticket.
