Punjab’s Government Schools: The First Choice for Parents

The latest Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) highlights a major trend, more students are choosing government schools over private ones.

The Punjab Government, under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is spearheading an education revolution that is transforming the landscape of government schools. Through groundbreaking initiatives like School of Eminence, School of Brilliance, School of Aligned Learning, and School of Happiness, Punjab’s government schools are setting new standards in education. The impact? A significant surge in student enrolments, with parents increasingly preferring government schools over private institutions.

A Remarkable Shift: Thousands Moving to Government Schools

According to the Education Department, 8,905 students have transferred from private to government schools in recent years. The latest Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) highlights a major trend, more students are choosing government schools over private ones. Between 2022 and 2024, government school enrolments have witnessed a steady rise, reflecting the growing trust of parents in Punjab’s improved public education system.

Why Parents Are Choosing Government Schools?

One of the most encouraging developments is that 85% of children in Punjab are now enrolled in some form of schooling. Before COVID-19, 52.2% of students attended private schools, while 46.7% were in government schools. Post-pandemic, this dynamic has completely reversed. By 2022, 58% of students were enrolled in government schools, and this trend has continued in 2024. Even as families experience economic stability, they are still choosing public schools, proving that Punjab’s government education system is now a preferred and trusted choice.

A New Era of Educational Excellence

With Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann at the helm, Punjab is witnessing an educational renaissance. The government’s progressive policies are empowering students, improving infrastructure, and ensuring world-class learning facilities in every government school. By making quality education accessible to all, the Mann Government is turning dreams into reality for thousands of students, paving the way for a brighter future.

The revolution in Punjab’s education sector is not just a promise, it’s a reality. The state’s government schools are no longer a second choice; they are the first preference for thousands of parents looking for quality education for their children.
