In another incident, a 28-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after getting to know that her husband had hanged himself in a hotel room in Varanasi.
A report by PTI said the police identified the deceased as Harish Bagesh and Sanchita Sharan, both 28. The couple, who were earlier based in Mumbai, moved to Gorakhpur in February to live with Sanchita's father Dr Ram Sharan, who told the police that Bagesh's parents, based in Patna, had not accepted the marriage.
On Friday, Bagesh told Sanchita that he was going to Patna and she dropped him at the railway station the next day. The couple last spoke on Saturday evening.
On Sunday morning, police informed the family that Bagesh was found hanging in a hotel room at Sarnath in Varanasi. After hearing this news, Sanchita jumped from the second storey of a building. The bodies were sent for autopsy and police are investigating the reasons behind Bagesh's visit to Sarnath and his suicide.
