Pune Gangster Sharad Mohol Shot At By Unidentified Persons In Kothrud
Mohol has faced charges including murder and dacoity. He was tried for the 2012 killing of suspected Indian Mujahideen member Qateel Siddiqui while in Yerawada jail.
Sharad Mohol, a 40-year-old individual with multiple criminal cases against him, sustained injuries when unidentified persons fired at him in Pune on Friday afternoon, news agency PTI reported citing a police spokesperson.
Sharing visuals from the spot, news agency ANI in an X post (formerly Twitter) said: "A Pune-based gangster Sharad Mohol injured after being shot by 3-4 unidentified persons in the Kothrud area of Pune city this afternoon. He is currently under treatment".

According to the PTI report, the incident occurred around 1:30 pm at Sutardara in Kothrud, where three to four unknown assailants fired two shots at Mohol from close proximity. Following the attack, Mohol was quickly transported to a private hospital located in the Kothrud area for medical attention.
Law enforcement authorities have assembled teams to identify and apprehend the assailants responsible for the attack, the spokesperson confirmed, as per the report.
Mohol's criminal record includes various charges, notably murder and dacoity. According to a report by Indian Express, he notably faced trial for the 2012 murder of suspected Indian Mujahideen member Qateel Siddiqui while incarcerated at Yerawada jail. However, he was acquitted of the charges in June 2019, it said further.
Furthermore, Mohol was previously implicated as a principal offender in the January 2010 killing of gangster Kishor Marne. Subsequently, he and six of his associates received life sentences following their conviction in the case lodged at Dattawadi police station. Mohol, however, challenged this conviction in the Bombay High Court and secured bail in 2021, Indian Express reported.
Kishor Marne had close ties with Ganesh Marne, identified as a primary suspect in the 2006 murder of gangster Sandeep Mohol on Paud Road. Following Ganesh's apprehension, Kishor assumed leadership of the gang, it added further.
In addition to his criminal associations, Sharad Mohol and his spouse, Swati, affiliated with the BJP, have been observed participating in various social initiatives within the city, the report said citing officials.
