MP: Days After CM Mohan Yadav Takes Charge, 10 Shops Demolished For Open Meat Sale

The meats shops were demolished in Ujjain's Nagjhiri area and officials warned the establishments running such shops to either down the shutters or face stringent action.

New Delhi: A total of 10 shops allegedly selling meat illegally in Ujjain and the houses of three persons allegedly involved in the attack on a BJP functionary in Bhopal were demolished on Friday, news agency PTI reported. The action comes days after Chief Minister Mohan Yadav gave instructions to ban meat sale in the open. After assuming the chair on Wednesday, CM Yadav ordered a ban on unregulated use of loudspeakers in religious and other places, and asked the officials concerned to clamp down on meat sale in open.

According to the report, the meats shops were demolished in Ujjain's Nagjhiri area and officials warned the establishments running such shops to either down the shutters or face stringent action.

In Bhopal, the houses of three persons, identified as Farukh Raeen, Bilal and Aslam, were demolished. They were allegedly involved in the attack on BJP’s Devendra Thakur after the Assembly election results were announced.

Notably, Raeen, the key accused in the case, was arrested with four others and charged with attempt to murder. He has a total of 14 cases, including under National Security Act.

Speaking on the bulldozer action, Union Minister Kaushal Kishore said the decision has been taken keeping the public health in mind. He further said the government in every BJP-ruled state strives to take strict action against criminals owing to the pledge taken by PM Narendra Modi of a crime-free India.

“Anyone who commits a crime, is a criminal. BJP governments in all states strive to punish and try criminals owing to the pledge taken by PM Modi of a crime-free India. Even fruits sold in the open tend to develop bacteria. This decision has been taken keeping people’s health in mind,” he told ANI.
