'While Some States Received....': CPI(M) To Protest Against 'Neglect Of Kerala' In Budget 2024

Criticising the BJP, the CPI(M) pointed out that the saffron party's promise to resolve all issues after winning a Lok Sabha seat from Kerala had proven false.

The ruling CPI(M) in Kerala has announced a two-day protest against the alleged neglect of the state in the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday. The party termed the budgetary allocations as a serious matter, alleging that Kerala's key demands have been ignored.

In a statement, the CPI(M) accused the Centre of neglecting important projects crucial to the state's development. "The budget's neglect of Kerala is a serious issue that needs to be addressed," the statement read, as per a report on PTI. The protests are set to be held at local centers starting Wednesday.

The CPI(M) highlighted several unmet demands, including the third railway line, the Sabari railway project, the establishment of AIIMS in Kerala, reduction of loan limits, a special financial package, and funds for the development of the Vizhinjam port. "While some states have received generous allocations, Kerala has been completely ignored," the party alleged.

The Left party expressed concern over the reduction in allocations for central schemes such as the Prime Minister's Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, the Prime Minister's Nutrition Abhiyan, and MGNREGA, warning that these cuts would adversely affect the lives of ordinary people in Kerala.

Criticising the BJP, the CPI(M) pointed out that the saffron party's promise to resolve all issues after winning a Lok Sabha seat from Kerala had proven false. "The budget has continued the traditional stance of neglecting Kerala. Despite the state's willingness to provide land, AIIMS has been ignored. There is a need for a united demand for AIIMS in Kerala," the statement added, as per the report.

The CPI(M) called for a strong protest against the budget's neglect at local centers on July 24 and 25, urging the people of Kerala to join in raising their voices for the state's rightful share of central funds and development projects.
