Kerala BJP Prez Meets Guv, Demands NIA Probe Into Death Of RSS Worker In Palakkad

A delegation led by Kerala BJP president K Surendran also met Kerala Governor to seek his intervention into ensuring a fair probe.

Chennai: The BJP unit in Kerala on Tuesday started demanding a probe by National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the death of a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker in Palakkad. A delegation led by Kerala BJP president K Surendran also met Kerala Governor to seek his intervention into ensuring a fair probe.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, a 27-year-old RSS worker A Sanjith was allegedly murdered by the workers of the Social Democratic Front of India (SDFI) on Monday. The SDFI is the political wing of the Popular Front of India In Palakkad. When Sanjith was traveling on a two-wheeler with his wife, miscreants allegedly rammed their car into the motorcycle and reportedly stabbed him until he fell unconscious. Later, Sanjith was rushed to hospital but he succumbed to the injuries.

Following the incident, the BJP state unit president talking to reporters said, the current ruling CPI (M) has been soft towards the fundamentalist forces in the state.

Hence, he said that he doesn’t expect a fair probe by the Kerala government and state police. Therefore, Surendran demanded a probe by National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the murder of the RSS worker in Kerala on Monday.

K Surendran also recalled that the murder of Sanjith was the second in the state since another RSS worker was allegedly killed by an SDPI member in Thrissur on October 31.

The BJP state unit chief then said that his party workers will only be forced to defend themselves if the police do not act against those forces. He also said that they complained about the threat faced by SDPI to the police but no action was taken against the culprits.
