Karnataka Horror! School Teacher Tries To Rape 11-Year-Old Student In Classroom, Arrested

Karnataka: The accused teacher is said to have attacked the minor when she came back to her classroom after a midday meal. He fled after the victim tried to raise alarm.

Karnataka: In another shocking incident, a school teacher was arrested for attempting to rape an 11-year-old girl in the classroom in Karnataka's Kalaburagi district, the police officials said on Wednesday.

The incident reportedly took place at a government school that comes under the jurisdiction of Nimbarga police station in the district's Aland taluk, NDTV reported.

According to police, the victim was studying in Class 5 in the state-run school.

The minor girl was alone at the time of the assault. She had gone to her classroom after having a midday meal on Tuesday, when the accused attacked her.

When she tried to raise alarm, he threatened her not to make noise and attempted to rape her.

However, the accused teacher was forced to flee from the school premises when the girl resisted his assault and began screaming for help. Following this, she returned to her home and informed her parents about the incident, the report stated.

The parents then questioned the school headmaster about the incident with their daughter and subsequently lodged a complaint with the police. The accused teacher was later hunted down and arrested by the Nimbarga Police.

A case has been registered against him under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and other sections under the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).

The incident comes days after the "rape and murder" of the 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital that has triggered massive protests by the doctors across the nation, demanding justice for the victim.

Previously, an incident of gang rape of a 13-year-old girl in June had sparked protests and roadblocks in the region.

The victim was found to be eight months pregnant when she was admitted to a hospital after she sustained injuries. She had died at the private hospital where she was receiving treatment due to multi-organ failure.

The minor was allegedly raped by the accused for several months before the incident was unearthed.
