Karnataka Man Arrested After Saying ‘PM Modi’s Residence Should Be Bombed’

In Bengaluru, Bandepalya police arrested Nawaz, after a video he shared on social media over bombing PM's residence under the account name ‘Public Servant'.

Karnataka Police have detained two individuals in separate incidents involving inflammatory comments—one targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the other criticising Operation Sindoor, India’s recent military action in response to a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed 26 lives. A man identified as Nawaz reportedly said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence should be bombed, as per a report on IANS.

In Bengaluru, Bandepalya police arrested Nawaz, after a video he shared on social media under the account name ‘Public Servant’ triggered widespread outrage. In the video, Nawaz allegedly made incendiary remarks, questioning why Prime Minister Modi’s residence hadn’t been bombed, and accused the Prime Minister of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

Following the video’s circulation, an FIR was promptly registered, and Nawaz was tracked and taken into custody. He has since been remanded to judicial custody at Bengaluru Central Jail, and will face investigation under sections related to incitement and threats to national security, according to police sources.

Student Arrested For Post Against Operation Sindoor

In a separate case, Reshma N Bariga, a postgraduate student at Mangaluru University and resident of Belalu near Belthangady, is under investigation for a social media post perceived as critical of India’s armed forces.

Reshma reportedly posted a poem in Kannada on Instagram, reflecting on the futility of war and using the hashtag #dikkaraoperationSindoora (translated as Down with Operation Sindoor). The post, which questioned the consequences of military action, sparked controversy and was later deleted. However, she followed up with another post defending her stance.

Based on a complaint, Konaje Police registered an FIR against her invoking Section 192, Section 196 and Sections 353(1)(b) and 353(2) under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Both cases remain under investigation. Authorities have emphasised that further legal steps will be based on the outcome of the inquiries.
