The auto driver Pavan Kumar tagged Bengaluru City Police and other authorities in his social media post, seeking action against the passenger.
Bengaluru news: An auto driver in Bengaluru has lodged a complaint against a woman passenger, accusing her of double-booking rides on Ola and Rapido, then canceling one upon his arrival. The driver, Pavan Kumar, alleged that the woman used offensive language during the confrontation and highlighted financial strain of auto drivers when such practices are in place.
A viral video by Kumar showed a woman seated in another auto and him questioning her actions. The auto driver confronted the passenger questioning how she could book two autos simultaneously and cancel one after a long wait, leaving him feeling mistreated.
The woman denied the allegations, claiming she only compared fares on the apps before booking one ride. She insisted the issue stemmed from an "app problem" and accused the driver of harassment. During the heated exchange, the woman reportedly used abusive language, reportedly attempted to throw a punch at the driver, and called her father to intervene. The confrontation left her visibly distressed, as seen in the video.
The video, which has sparked a debate on social media, raised questions about ride-cancellation policies. While some users argued that customers have the right to cancel rides through the app, others highlighted the economic impact of such cancellations on drivers.
Pavan Kumar tagged Bengaluru City Police and other authorities in his social media post, seeking action against the passenger. In his complaint, he reiterated that the woman booked his auto via Ola but canceled it in favour of a Rapido ride, causing him financial loss and unnecessary waiting time.
Not every time are Bengaluru auto drivers at fault; sometimes, you have to accept your mistakes too.
