JMM Expels Sita Soren, Hemant Soren's Sister-In-Law, For 6 Years Over 'Anti-Party Activities'

Sita Soren, who is contesting from the Dumka Parliamentary constituency as a BJP candidate said that the people of the state were standing with her and future is dark for the ruling JMM.

New Delhi: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Friday expelled Sita Soren, the sister-in-law of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, from the party's primary membership for a duration of six years. Sita Soren is the wife of Hemant Soren's late elder brother, Durga Soren, who died in 2009.

She was expelled for “anti-party activities”, the JMM said in a release.

Sita Soren is contesting from Jharkhand's Dumka Parliamentary constituency in the Lok Sabha elections as a BJP candidate. In April, she claimed that the people of the state were standing with her and that the future was dark for the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.

Following the arrest of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, she highlighted the disillusionment among party workers and voiced concerns over the future of the JMM.
