IMD Predicts Light To Moderate Widespread Rainfall For These Southern States For Next 5 Days

One of the largest IT park in Bengaluru, Manyata Tech Park, reportedly faced inundation and employees were sent back home

Chennai: The Indian Meteorological Department on Monday predicted widespread rainfall to three states and union territories on Monday. The IMD predicted light to moderate rainfall for Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, Puducherry and Karaikal for the next 5 days. 

The IMD forecast said, "Light to moderate scattered/fairly widespread rainfall will be experienced over Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during next 5 days. Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during next 5 days and over Kerala and Mahe on November 25 and 26."

"Isolated very heavy rainfall also very likely over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on November 25 and 26," it said.

However, all the southern states including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and union territories have already witnessed flood-like conditions in various parts of the state.

The capital of Karnataka, Bengaluru, has already been inundated due to unexpected rainfall. Several lakes and water bodies are in spate and water has entered into the low-lying areas in Yelahanka and Mahadevapura zone, according to a report on PTI. 

One of the largest IT parks in Bengaluru, Manyata Tech Park, was reportedly inundated and employees were sent back home.

Yelahanka received the maximum rainfall of 139 mm in two hours in Bengaluru. The Yelahanka MLA SR Vishwanath told PTI that the water will recede in 2-3 days. 

The water is also receding in Tirupati and surrounding areas in Andhra Pradesh.
